Machine qui sert à l'égrenage des céréales. Au lieu de frapper sur l'épi comme avec le fléau, la batteuse force l'épi à passer entre deux cylindres cannelés. On pousse les gerbes vers ces cylindres et le grain se sépare de la paille.


This implement was used to husk grains. Instead of beating the stalks with a flail, the thresher forced them through two corrugated cylinders in order to knock the grain off the stalks.
